SPECD Event & Competition Rules

Effective date: July 27, 2026

This document supplements the Terms of Service. By entering a build, RSVPing, voting, competing, or attending an event, you agree to these rules and to any additional rules for the specific event.

Part A — Online competitions, brackets, voting, and rankings

A1. Nature of the competitions

Community brackets, matchups, votes, and rankings are for entertainment and community engagement. They are not a lottery, raffle, or gambling. Do not treat them as such.
Where a competition is a contest of skill/merit (e.g., judged or community-voted builds), outcomes are determined as described in the specific event's rules — not by chance.

A2. Eligibility

You must have an account in good standing and meet any age requirement stated for the event (generally 13+ for online participation; 18+ or parent/ guardian consent may be required for prizes or in-person events).
Employees, contractors, and immediate family of SPECD may be restricted from winning prizes where required.

A3. Fair play

You must not manipulate votes, rankings, or results, including by using multiple/ fake accounts, bots, vote-buying, or coordinated manipulation. Entries must be your own vehicle/build and accurate. SPECD may disqualify entries, remove votes, adjust or void results, and suspend accounts for violations. SPECD's determinations about eligibility, scoring, and results are final except as required by law.

A4. Entry content and license

By entering, you confirm you own or control the rights to your entry content and grant SPECD the license described in the Terms (Section 5), including the right to display your entry in connection with the competition and to promote the Service.

A5. Prizes (if any)

Prizes, if offered, are described in the specific event's rules, including eligibility, how winners are determined, approximate value, and any conditions.
No purchase or payment is required to enter or win unless the event is expressly structured and legally reviewed as a paid, skill-based competition. Avoid any structure that combines payment to enter + chance + a prize — that can be an illegal lottery. Get legal review before charging entry fees for prizes.
Winners may be required to verify identity/eligibility, sign an affidavit/ release, and are responsible for any taxes. Prizes are non-transferable and non-exchangeable unless stated.

A6. Changes and cancellation

SPECD may modify, suspend, or cancel any online competition (e.g., for technical issues, abuse, or insufficient participation) to the extent permitted by law.

Part B — In-person car meets and events

Everything in Part B should be handled per-event with real documents. The items below are a checklist and building blocks, not a substitute for a lawyer, insurer, and venue.

B1. Required for each in-person event

Signed liability waiver & release from every participant (and spectator where appropriate) — see B3 for building blocks.
Insurance appropriate to the event (general liability, and event/venue coverage; more for any timed/performance/track activity). Obtain certificates of insurance and confirm additional-insured requirements.
Venue agreement/permit with the property owner, plus any local permits.
Minor participants: waiver signed by a parent/legal guardian; consider additional supervision requirements.
Emergency plan: first aid, emergency contacts, nearest hospital, evacuation plan, weather plan.
Accessibility plan for attendees with disabilities.
Alcohol/drugs policy (recommended: prohibit drugs; if alcohol is present at all, only via licensed vendors with proper permits/insurance — do not mix alcohol with any driving/performance activity).
Clear participant and spectator rules (speed limits, no burnouts/racing on public roads, designated areas, staff instructions).
Photo/video release so SPECD and the event may capture and use images.

B2. Assumption of risk (plain-language notice to show at signup/entry)

Car events involve risk. Vehicles, driving, and crowds can cause serious injury, death, or property damage. By attending or participating you accept these risks, agree to follow all rules and staff instructions, and agree to the event waiver you sign. SPECD is a platform that helps organize events; SPECD does not control the venue, vehicles, drivers, or participants and is not responsible for injuries, damage, or losses at events.

B3. Waiver & release — building blocks (attorney to finalize per event/state)

A per-event waiver typically includes:

Assumption of risk — participant/attendee acknowledges the inherent dangers of vehicles and automotive events and voluntarily assumes all risk.
Release and covenant not to sue — releases SPECD, the organizer, the venue, sponsors, and their personnel from liability for injury, death, or damage, to the extent permitted by law.
Indemnification — participant indemnifies the released parties for claims arising from their participation.
Media release — permission to photograph/record and to use the media.
Rules acknowledgment — agreement to follow all event and safety rules.
Fitness/consent — participant is fit to participate and consents to emergency medical treatment.
Minor rider — parent/guardian signature and consent for anyone under 18.
Governing law/venue and severability.

Waiver enforceability varies by state and does not cover gross negligence or willful misconduct. Insurance is not optional. Have counsel prepare the actual waiver.

B4. Sponsorships at events

Event sponsorships, paid placements, and brand activations must be disclosed and comply with the Acceptable Use Policy and advertising law.
